Registration


Attendees can register for one or the other conference individually, or for a significant discount, attendees can go to both conferences by selecting a joint registration. One-day passes provide another option. Workshop fees are additional to conference registration; Workshop attendees must register for at least one day of the conference and use the registration code provided by workshop organizers.

Registration fees include:

Conference registration includes attendance to all sessions, morning / afternoon refreshment breaks, and evening events. C&C registration includes the C&C welcome reception on Sunday, the C&C demo/poster reception on Monday, and the C&C/DIS Art Exhibition at UCSD on Tuesday. Joint registration includes all evening events (all the C&C events, plus the DIS dinner on Wednesday evening, and the DIS poster/demo reception on Thursday evening).

Companion passes may be purchased for any of the evening events for $100 per person.

One-day passes include access to all sessions, morning/afternoon refreshment breaks, and the evening events on that specific day. One-day passes for Monday and Tuesday include access to C&C sessions and events; one-day passes for Wednesday includes access to both DIS and C&C sessions and events; and one-day passes for Thursday and Friday includes access to DIS sessions and events.

To make C&C more family friendly, we will permit paid attendees to bring their kids 6 and under to attend the evening events for free.

Payment Information

Payment of registration fees should be made by Credit Card though Regonline. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express. Payment by credit card is available only through the online form. To facilitate processing, participants must clearly indicate in all remittances their name, address, and registration number.

Registration Cancellation Policy

Up to and including 17 May 2019 the registration fee will be refunded less 20 USD administration fee. After 17 May 2019 – No refunds on registration fees will be made. No shows will not be refunded. Please note if you pre-register and do not attend the conference you will be charged your participation fee and will be required to settle any outstanding balances.

Notification of cancellations should be made by email to registration2019@cc.acm.org. If you do not send an email confirming that you wish to cancel your place at the conference you will still be liable to pay the fees. Substitutions can be made at any time. All applicable refunds will be made after the conference. Bank service charges and all administration fees will be deducted from all conference registration refunds. In the unlikely case of cancellation of the event, the organizers shall not accept liability for any consequential loss and shall have no liability to reimburse any other costs that may have been incurred, including transport costs, accommodation etc. Delegates are encouraged to take out travel insurance when making travel and accommodation arrangements.

The Hyatt Regency is located right on the waterfront in Mission Bay, a beautiful area with lots to do and explore. The hotel features views of the Pacific Ocean, Mission Beach, and the downtown San Diego skyline.

Attendees will be guaranteed a rate of $249/night + tax for standard run of house (click here to book with the conference rate). Attendees with valid student ID may book a room in the Bay Building at the discounted rate of $209/night + tax (click here to book with the student rate). Early booking is encouraged.

A discounted resort fee of $15 per room, per night will be applied to your stay. This rate covers 24-hour access to the Fitness Center and standard guest room internet.

Inclusivity Guidelines


The DIS/C&C conferences are becoming increasingly diverse, with attendees from all over the world who represent varied gender, racial, ethnic, disability, and other identities. As a presenter or session chair, there are steps you can take to ensure that your message can be heard and understood by the widest possible audience. Getting Around


The Hyatt Regency is most easily accessed by car, but can also be accessed by bus.

Car Rentals

The Hyatt Regency offers on-property car rentals; call the hotel concierge for details. The airport also hosts a number of car rental companies; see here for more information.

Parking

Parking fees in the Hyatt Regency parking lot will be reduced to $10/day. Free parking on the street nearby is first-come first serve.

Taxi/Rideshare

Lyft and Uber are both prevalent in San Diego, and can be called from the airport as well as anywhere else. A Lyft from the airport to the Hyatt Regency is about $15-$20. There are also a number of taxi companies; taxis are generally available at the airport and other major transit centers. For taxis in other locations, you will likely need to call a cab company.

Public Transit

The MTS Bus 8 route runs from the central Old Town Transit Center to Mission Bay. Bus fair and pass details can be found here.

Accessible Transportation

Users that need a wheelchair lift can use the SuperShuttle service to get from airport to hotel or from hotel to airport. San Diego Uber also has the WAV wheelchair options. See the Accessibility FAQ for more details.

Food

Being a coastal city near the Mexican border, San Diego is known for its seafood and Mexican food. San Diego is also a craft beer haven. Some local favorites are fish tacos, California burritos, and IPA beers.

Beaches

Besides Mission Beach, San Diego has a number of other gorgeous beaches. Just north is Pacific Beach and just south is Ocean Beach, both of which also have a plethora of food options. Further north is La Jolla Shores, where you can rent a surfboard, go kayaking or snorkeling in the Cove.

UCSD & Torrey Pines

Visit UC San Diego at its beautiful La Jolla campus. Just next to UCSD is the Torrey Pines Gliderport where you can watch the gliders fly or try it out yourself!

San Diego Zoo & Balboa Park

Balboa Park is home to the famous San Diego Zoo, as well as a number of great museums, theaters, and walking trails. It’s a great place to spend the day!

Gaslamp District

The Gaslamp District downtown is home to a number of fun bars and clubs, perfect for a night out on the town!

Little Italy

Little Italy is neighbourhood downtown famous for… you guessed it, Italian food! There are tons of delicious restaurants here as well as a great farmer’s market on Saturdays.

Old Town

Old Town is the “historic heart of San Diego", and is a great place to wander around, visit the shops, and have some authentic Mexican food.

Coastal Highway

The Pacific Coast Highway is a beautiful way to see California. It runs along the coast and through a number of towns & neighbourhoods on its way north. Drive just a little ways up to Del Mar for a nice brunch or dinner, or keep going as far north as you wish!

Weather

San Diego is generally moderate and sunny year-round. Temperatures usually sit around 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The sun is strong so be sure to bring sun protection! The coastal breeze can be chilly, so bring a jacket for shady areas and evenings.

Travel Tips

The currency in San Diego is US Dollars. Most international ATM cards and credit cards can also be used. If you are traveling from outside the US you may need adapters for electrical appliances; the standard voltage in the US is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz.

Visa Support Letters will only be provided to participants who have registered and paid for the Conference. Should participants withdraw from the conference after the issue of Visa Support Letter the consulate will be notified of the withdrawal accordingly.
